Why it is
this dark
About two thirds of my work lives in black and grey. Not because I am sad — because that is where things are honest. Blue, red and a warm beige orange arrive later, when a feeling has already been survived.
I paint in acrylic. Pencil and black art line pen come in when a piece needs an edge that will not soften.
Before a painting leaves me I write down what it meant, by hand, on paper. That note is sold with the work. You are not buying a surface — you are buying the thing that made it.
